Christmas vacation always ends up being anything but a "vacation." Always busy with lots of hustle and bustle. This year was no different, except add an 11 week old into the mix for even more excitement!
Since plane tickets were sky high we decided to drive 1,000+ miles from Seattle to Ventura. This also allowed me to see some of my friends along the way that i would not have otherwise gotten to see (luvya Heidi, Leah, and Laura!) The drive was pretty slow going considering Judah needed to be fed and cuddled every few hours (every three on the way down, but he was hating his car seat and didn't make it much past two hours on the way back up) In the end we made it safe and sound and had a great visit with friends and family. We enjoyed taking Judah to visit some of our favorite places (in-n-out!) and look forward to bringing him back when he can enjoy them a little more! Oh and we got some much needed sunshine!!!
One highlight was having Judah dedicated by Nicholas' uncle. My mom drove down to Santa Paula with us on Sunday morning and we surprised Nicholas' mom who thought we were coming the next day. She cried with joy just to see us there. Then the waterworks really flowed when we let her know we had arranged to have Judah dedicated that morning. She had mentioned before that she wish she could be up in WA whenever it took place, so since we knew it was important to her we worked it out. Paster/Uncle David had quite a few nice words to say about Judah and living up to his name (see previous post for more about the meaning behind Judah Phinehas). He also had blessings and challenges for us as parents to raise him well to fear the Lord. It was very personal and filled with love especially with so much family present to share in the joy.
This was the first time Judah got to meet his relatives, until our CA trip he had only met his 2 grandmas and no one else. In two weeks time he met 2 grandpas, 2 great grandmas, 1 great grandpa, 2 aunts, 3 uncles (1 of which i also met for the first time- Uncle Trevor my 1/2 brother!), 3 great aunts and 3 great uncles and several second cousins, and second cousins once removed. I'd say he was past around like a hot potato but everyone held on to him quite a bit longer than would be recomended with anything that hot! He was admired, hugged, photographed, and complimented by all, as well as showered by gifts. He is such a blessing i don't know how anyone could not love him! He was so spoiled with attention for the last several days i could hardly set him down alone because he was so used to being held at every waking (and almost every sleeping) moment!
Other highlights include getting to meet a whole flock of babies! The Hisayasu's gigantic 20 lb 4 month old twins, Adelle Cooper who looks just like her daddy (except in the cutest most feminine way possible), Dave and Becca's little Blake who just poked his head out the Moby, Matilda the cutest little firey-hot 7 week old red head, and of course Judah's 2nd cousin once removed Chase Coert. We also met 2 babies to be: Heidi and Jennifer's pregnant bellies (as of about 1/2 an hour ago Jemmo is no longer pregnant but a proud mama of 2! sorry Heidi still counting down!) It's crazy how many friends of ours are having babies! it really makes us miss being back in California where our kids could grow up together. We are so grateful to have friends up here in WA with babies within weeks of Judah that we get to share these moments with.
